Whole System Overview
Here you can see the local monitor for verifying content before sending. The full rack including in-line UPSs, Scala (digital signage) server, Signage PCs, Cable box (4 more were installed after this photo.), HDMI to fiber converters, the 160 port matrix, and the fiber optic bulkheads.
NUC PCs
NUCs close up. Each PC is providing 2 channels of digital signage. Extremely small and power efficient, requiring only 17 watts each.
You can see the server below. We can fit 12 NUCs in the same amount of space that just the server takes up.
Strain relief and bundling
Care was taken to ensure proper strain relief and bend radius guidelines were observed for the fiber runs. Here you can see the color coding for different types of fiber. Black in this case indicates input. While the orange and teal differentiate between distinct video networks. These are also segregated into their own respective bulkheads at the request of the client.
HDMI to fiber converters
These units on the backside convert the HDMI inputs of the PCs, cable boxes etc into the signal sent out over fiber. Scaling receivers are located behind every display to convert the signal back into either HDMI or DVI.
