Network Topology Overview

Network Topology Overview

Here you can see the topology of the network. Names have been obfuscated for client privacy.

Distribution Switch Stack

Distribution Switch Stack

Here we see the main switch stack for video encoders located in the Main Distribution Frame. You can see the redundant LAG interconnects. The top unpowered switch is a spare requested by the client. Black cabling indicates an AV connection. The Juniper switch and orange cabling is client network providing data to digital signage PCs.

MDF Cluster

MDF Cluster

Here you can see Dell micro form factor PCs running digital signage plugged into the KDS encoders. Middle Atlantic fan trays are placed in between shelves to keep the computers and encoders cool, extending their life cycle.

Also shown here is the rack KVM BSS server and AV server running Kramer Network, databases and custom scripts.

Audio Sources, Control & Power managment

Audio Sources, Control & Power managment

Here you see the Rockbot audio players for the campus. This provides the client with a music selection experience like Pandora or Spotify, but is licensed for commercial use. Also seen are the BSS audio break-in, the master control system processor, networked PDU and Dante secondary switch.

Video Wall

There are many specialty signage applications throughout the campuses.

Signage and live TV distribution

Signage and live TV distribution

Here you see live TV. The cable boxes are located in an IDF several hundred feet away, with IR signals being passed over the network for user control.

Amp Cluster

Amp Cluster

Here you see a bank of amplifiers, 120 amp power distribution, UPS and wireless microphone receiver units. Also show are a BSS 806 unit and networked PDU. Again we see a secondary Dante network switch. The client also requested a touch screen at this rack location to control audio on a per zone basis. Here we used a Planar helium 22 inch touch screen mounted to a Middle Atlantic rack vesa mount.

Venue displays

Venue displays

A small example of video distribution, this particular venue has 9 displays and 8 sources specific to it. They have a control system that allows them to easily route video and audio around the 9 displays. Local music and microphone sources can also be routed to the venue speakers.

Lounge area

Lounge area

Here you see a guest lounge area. Again, this venue has a control system to control the audio and video. Since this space is occasionally used as an overflow area for events, we used crimson fully articulating mounts that allow the client to pull the displays out and rotate them 90 degrees for landscape content such as television.

Banquets prefunction areas

Digital Doorcards and signage. On the right, the current meeting is shown on the doorcards, this was achieved through advanced scripting and database integration. More on that in the next slide.

Dynamically changing Doorcard content

Dynamically changing Doorcard content

Since the client utilizes a hospitality management system, we were able to leverage that information to automate dynamic content. In simplest terms, a python script reads a database at a set interval. If there is data in the queried field, that data is displayed on the door card, if no data is present, marketing content is displayed. The client can also manually override this content at anytime.

Doorcards

Doorcards

Here you see an example of digital doorcards for meeting rooms. These are currently showing marketing, because no meeting is currently taking place.

Meeting Spaces

Meeting Spaces

A wide shot of 4 of the 12 meeting spaces.

Challenging speaker install

Challenging speaker install

Here we see a pool area with pendant speakers utilized due to challenging ceiling construction.
